- Loan protection
- Credit insurance
- Loan repayment insurance
- ASU insurance

- Payment cover
If you find these listed on your statement, you will have received PPI in your time. If you are still unsure over whether you have got PPI, you should enquire at the bank or firm that sold you the loan, mortgage, credit card or product.

Carry out the claim
This is where some people will take different paths in their attempts to reclaim money lost through PPI. It should be noted that it is possible to make the claim yourself without any middle men. If you feel confident about this or your feel as though you have the time and effort to follow the claim through yourself, there is nothing to prevent you from doing so.
However, it would be fair to say that many people feel more confident in leaving the claiming process to people who have experience in this field. There is no right or wrong way to go about making the PPI claim; it all depends on the individual. If you do decide to use a claim handler or claim management company to make the claim on your behalf, be sure to check out the terms and conditions.
Some of these firms may ask for a fee upfront, some may operate on a no win, no fee basis but then take more of your money if you get money back. These are legitimate costs and many people are happy to give up an amount of money to have a professional take care of it for them.
If you do decide to use a claim handler you should carefully consider whether to pay an upfront fee before your complaint is submitted, as there is no guarantee it will be successful and you could be left out of pocket.
